About
Front Street (between California and Sacramento Streets), home to iconic downtown bars such as Harrington's Bar and Grill, Schroeder's, and Royal Exchange, is now California's first "Entertainment Zone!" This allows brick-and-mortar establishments to sell alcoholic beverages for outdoor consumption on the street during special events and programs. State Senator Scott Weiner authored Senate Bill 76 in 2023 to enable San Francisco to establish the State’s first Entertainment Zone. This legislation was signed by Governor Gavin Newsom. DSFP advocated successfully for Front Street to be the first in support of downtown’s economic recovery and serve as a model for future Entertainment Zones. Mayor London Breed introduced legislation for Front Street, which was approved by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors during the summer of 2024.
