The Freight's third installment of our original concert series One Song All Night focuses on an iconic Bay Area-recorded classic, Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams." You will hear five completely different reimaginations, by Evie Ladin's MoToR/dance, Terrence Brewer, Rip Room, Adrienne Shamszad, and MeloDious.

Evie Ladin’s all-female percussive dance ensemble explores the complete expression of the sonic body in space. Inspired by the vibrant International Body Music scene to workshop complex physical rhythmic and harmonic independence with world rhythmic systems, MoToR/dance performs unique interlocking percussive dance arrangements with layered vocal harmonies and large group choreography in a powerful moving choir. In their 5th self-produced season with a solid cast, repertoire includes evocative and moving works of music/dance, and resplendent dance films.

Proclaimed by long-time music scribe David Becker (SF Examiner) as the San Francisco Bay areas #1 Jazz Guitarist, multiple-award winning guitarist Terrence Brewer is a first-call and in-demand bandleader, record producer, concert performer, studio musician, and one of the San Francisco Bay area’s foremost and sought after music educators. Brewer, a voting member of the Recording Academy, has produced and released 11 nationally acclaimed albums on the record label Strong Brew Music he started in 2006. Don’t Worry ‘Bout Me, Brewer’s 11th album, a duet album with Jazz/Blues vocalist Pamela Rose pays tribute to the iconic duet albums by Ella Fitzgerald and Joe Pass.

Brewer has led his various groups in performing to sold-out crowds at the 62nd and 52nd Annual Monterey Jazz Festival, the world famous Yoshi’s at Jack London Square, Yoshi’s San Francisco, SFJAZZ Festival, and countless other venues. When Brewer is not touring regionally and nationally, he his on the faculty for the San Francisco Conservatory of Music’s Root, Jazz and American Music program, Brewer curates and creates curriculum, facilitates master classes, clinics, workshops, and lectures for the likes of Stanford Jazz Workshop, SFJAZZ, Oakland Public Conservatory, The California Jazz Conservatory, Jazz Camp West, Blue Bear School of Music, Lafayette Summer Music Workshop, CMEA (California Music Educators Association), and presenting at colleges, high schools, and middles schools throughout California and across the country.

Once described as “dance music for people who don’t like to dance,” Rip Room prefers the humble designation “dance music for people who like to dance but are also bummed out.”

This three-piece from San Francisco (John Reed - guitar/vocals, Sarah McKinney - bass, Gracie Malley - drums) play high-energy art punk with a math-y, prog edge — propulsive rhythms and piercing lyrics, but with a sense of buoyancy — wolves in sheep’s clothing.

The band released their first full length LP with Spartan Records and is currently working on their next record.

Adrienne Shamszad is a singer-songwriter from the San Francisco Bay Area who writes revolutionary anthems, prayerful power ballads, soul-stirring love songs, and soothing lullabies. Adrienne is a bold performer who brings her audience together with her humor, vulnerability, and a healing touch. She plays guitar, piano, and Iranian setar to accompany her strong and soulful voice.

While Adrienne’s influences as an instrumentalist and songwriter are rooted in folk, rock, and R&B, she also draws her inspiration from the classical poetry and vocal styles of the Iranian musical traditions. Adrienne’s music has become a bridge between these two dimensions of her own heritage, steering her into the outer reaches of the singer-songwriter genre, and far beyond with American roots and Mystic soul.

MeloDious is an eclectic, soulful sound experience emerging from Oakland, CA, grounded in a rich musical lineage and heritage that spans gospel, jazz, R&B, and soul.

Since forming in 2016, the trio has captivated audiences with their dynamic vocal harmonies, inventive arrangements, and unmistakable creative chemistry. Their versatility and musicianship have led them to share stages with several Grammy Award–winning artists, further solidifying their presence within the Bay Area’s vibrant musical ecosystem.
