About
"David is definitely the real deal." Jan White, West Coast Songwriters
"Luning's humor and charisma enraptured the audience..clever twists on standard themes" Cloverdale Reveille
In the last three years, David has won numerous songwriting competitions, been nominated for the "Best Americana Band" in the North Bay, opened for class acts such as Leon Russell, Ramblin Jack Elliott, & Albert Lee, headlined at major venues, and received song placements prominently featured in major films and commercials, and HE HASN'T EVEN COME OUT WITH HIS DEBUT STUDIO ALBUM YET!
David has been personally recording, engineering, and mixing his debut album in a generously donated professional studio. It's almost ready to be released. In the meantime, he has also produced and directed, along with videographer Jared Wright, an exciting new music video "Whiskey Bottle" which will be released alongside the brand new album, "Just Drop On By". Stay posted. Both are coming soon!
David Luning's "easy laid-back personality masks the smart, talented, songwriter underneath". His quotable lyrics have been called witty, insightful, and honest and with his Berklee College of Music training he creates catchy melodies that are engaging and memorable. Audiences enjoy his rich gravel-tinged voice, charming personality, and award winning songs. David has opened for Leon Russell, Albert Lee, The Waymores, Matt the Electrician, Junior Brown, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Poor Man's Whiskey, and many more.
Every song David sings paints a unique scene which resonates with the past but then he carries the image clearly and cleverly right on into the present; from heartache and homesickness on the train, to sweet and humorous tales of love, and fun, foot-stomping sing-a-longs at the hootenanny. The themes are vintage. The songs are modern Americana at its best.
David plays guitar, piano, and harmonica, combining a variety of genres including Americana, Folk, Country, and Rock. He performs in house concerts and small venues as a captivating solo act, and also performs in bigger venues with three amazing musicians: Linden Reed, Dave Sampson, and Ben Dubin; collectively called the David Luning Band.
