Born David Helfman on April 21, 1937, he built a long career as a commercial jingle writer and record producer, composing thousands of advertising themes and winning multiple Clio Awards. He co-produced a major 1976 rock hit and is credited with introducing the recording’s distinctive cowbell part. In 2011 he was inducted into a regional music hall of fame and continues to maintain an official website.
